An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Operations team for an Assistant Train Service Manager based at Romford ROC. 

The Role 

This position requires a effective understanding of the operational railway and the processes involved in managing the train service in real time. Responsibilities include monitoring and recovering services according to contingency plans, providing information to stakeholders, and managing contractual and performance interfaces as directed by the Train Service Manager. The role also includes recording incidents for post-service review and investigation, conducting performance analysis, and ensuring customer requirements are met.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the GA Fleet during operations, working closely with GA maintenance planners, as well as maintenance controllers from Siemens and Bombardier Transportation.

As an assistant manager, you may need to hire temporary resources to cover shortages in train crew or fleet resources. Additionally, there may be instances where you are required to provide cover for stock maintenance controller positions at short notice, coordinating with depot teams to ensure proper maintenance and availability of trains.

Moreover, the ideal candidate will be responsible for undertaking and updating Fleet control systems, as well as monitoring ECS moves to and from depots. In cases where delays affect these movements, liaison with the GA Engineering function will be necessary. Please note that this role is shift based.

What we are looking for 

We are looking for a colleague that is enthusiastic and committed with an understanding of Rail industry performance management processes. 

Due to the number of the different IT systems, you will be working with, you must be IT-literate, and be comfortable with learning new systems. 

This role requires a colleague who is well organised and able to prioritise workload. You will be able to demonstrate exceptional levels of customer service and should be able to provide effective written communication skills. Understanding the requirements of our customer’s needs during disruption is essential.
