We have a fantastic and rare leadership opportunity for an Accessibility & Inclusion Manager based at our office at One Stratford Place (OSP) but with a mixture of network travel and hybrid working.

This position will be on a fixed term contract which is expected to last 12 months.

The Role

The purpose of this role is to provide a strategic and operational management for Greater Anglia’s accessibility strategy, interpreting equality, human rights legislation, industry regulation, and guidance to ensure Greater Anglia’s customer experience is accessible and inclusive for all its customers.

You will be responsible for challenging business processes and decisions to drive improvements access all areas of the customer journey to create an inclusive customer experience.  As a subject matter expert, you will provide guidance and advice to the business on compliance (and challenge non-compliance) with the Accessible Travel Policy, regulatory obligations, and relevant legislation.

You will be required to work extensively with a range of industry partners and user groups to gather insight into the customer experience of customers with access needs and identify opportunities for improvement.  This will include building and maintaining constructive relationships with key stakeholders (such as the ORR, RSSB, RDG and DfT) to support industry reform.

In this role, some of your key accountabilities will include:

Creating and delivering the business accessibility strategy and ensuring continual compliance with all industry and legal requirements, including those within our National Rail Contract.  As well as managing work programmes and initiatives to support delivery of the strategy, you will also work alongside other business leads to ensure there is alignment between the accessibility strategy and other priorities.  You will be responsible for writing and maintaining the Accessible Travel Policy and associated appendices.

Generating a business-wide culture of continuous improvement and supporting investment through developing business cases and proposals to improve accessibility for customers. You will have co-responsibility with asset management for the delivery of the annual minor works programme, ensuring appropriate approval is given for all projects.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a candidate who is educated to degree level or with an equivalent vocational qualification.

The successful candidate will have experience in writing and implementing a customer-orientated business strategy representing customers with access needs, as well as being able to deliver successful customer focussed initiatives and projects for customers with additional needs.  Previous experience of doing so within the UK rail industry is desirable as a detailed understanding of regulatory obligations that are applicable to customers with access needs is required for this role.

You will have the ability to collaborate, manage and motivate within and across organisational boundaries and with industry partners. You will also possess excellent communication, both written and verbally with an ability to engage and influence others.

Most importantly, you will be naturally passionate about ensuring our railway is accessible and inclusive for all our customers.
