We have a fantastic opportunity within our Finance Team for a Financial Accountant. This is a fixed term position which is expected to last 12 months. This role will be based at The Hub in Colchester.

The Role

As the Financial Account, you will be responsible for key journals as part of the period end management accounts process. You will be required to produce all balance sheet reconciliations and periodic balance sheet presentation.

Within this role, duties will include Group Reporting into Group systems for actuals and forecasts (Abellio and Mitsui). You will be the key contact for statutory audit and tax processes to ensure statutory deadlines are met, as well as for technical accounting assistance across Finance Team.

Some of the key accountabilities within this role, will be to ensure that all balance sheet reconciliations are completed every period along with relevant reporting, and all variances and action points are followed up as soon as possible.

Responsibilities include managing all Corporation Tax, VAT, PSA and CIS submissions for the company, by acting as the tax specialist in the Finance Team and respond to any group queries. This includes providing training to other departments as relevant.

You will have full management of 1 head, and your role will include interviewing, training, and appraisals.

 This role will require you to assist the Financial Controller in all aspects of financial accounting.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a colleague who possess high levels of attention to detail. You will have excellent computer skills including advanced knowledge and experience of working with Excel and complex accounting systems.

The successful colleague will be able to work to strict deadlines with the ability to plan and manage workload effectively.

You must be a qualified ACCA/ACA accountant.

We are ideally looking for candidates who have a shorter notice period (up to one month), to be able to step into this role as soon as possible.
