An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced digital marketer to join Merseyrail’s Marketing team on a 12 month temporary contract to cover maternity leave.
Working as part of the marketing department, this role is responsible for developing and delivering an engaging digital marketing strategy, which actively contributes to the revenue growth target.
In addition to delivering digital marketing content to encourage rail travel and communicate passenger information, this role will also help to measure marketing activity while working closely with the Campaign Marketing Manager to ensure analytics are shared and inform the wider marketing strategy.
This role is responsible for the strategic development of digital channels including the app, website and CRM strategy, while also identifying and exploring new initiatives to improve the digital experience.
Core responsibilities will include managing and enhancing the Merseyrail website, Destination Merseyside, e-newsletter, social media channels and app. You will be required to support general marketing campaigns using digital channels and work with other departments, helping them to deliver activity digitally. The role is varied, so you must be able to multitask and enjoy a challenge.
Another key responsibility will involve enhancing passenger’s journeys using digital communication. This will include communicating with passengers using traditional channels of digital communication and exploring new technologies and media channels to improve passenger experience.
Understanding passenger behavior, perception and expectations is key to this role and so the successful candidate will be required to use digital channels to gain insight into Merseyrail's varied audiences and to share the information with the marketing team and the wider business.
In addition the candidate will be required to manage two direct reports, manage external agencies, produce business reports and manage budgets.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A degree or equivalent qualification relevant to the role.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working in a similar role.
- Proven experience of managing and developing apps and websites, including driving traffic to the site, improving SEO and enhancing visitor navigation.
- The skills required to drive engagement through e-newsletters, including growing and managing data held.
- An impressive knowledge of social media channels and experience of utilising Twitter and Facebook on behalf of an organisation.
- The creativity to develop effective digital activity to support general marketing campaigns.
- Remarkable analytical skills to measure all marketing activity effectively.
- The ability to gain insight into audiences using digital channels.
- The tenacity to manage and optimise relationships with external agencies.
- The capacity to develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent copy writing skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- The talent to develop direct reports.
