Manningtree Station Supervisor

A position has become available at Manningtree Station in the important role of Station Supervisor. You will be the senior member of the team based at the station and be responsible for supervising a team of 5 ticket office and platform staff, whilst working alongside the ticket office supervisor.

Role and Accountability:

A brief overview of your duties includes; train dispatch, ticket advice and selling (both via the single counter and assisting with the ticket vending machines), customer service work, managing and developing the station team and enhancing relationships with the tenants and local community rail partnership.

As part of your duties, you will need to be confident and happy to work alone and make operational decisions regarding the services, including the Harwich branch connections.

You will be expected to motivate and lead the station team to reach performance and sales targets. The supervisor will be the first point of contact for the team and happy to assist with any issues that may arise throughout the course of your station duties. The supervisor will also be responsible for ensuring the team are fully trained, briefed and adhere to company instructions. They will also play an integral part in people management around attendance, performance, sickness as well as being involved in the appraisal process.

Manningtree is an important station on the Great Eastern mainline with a high commuter footfall, however, many leisure travelers also use the station in the off-peak periods. The station is about to have a major car park expansion, so the supervisor will be liaising with the project team whilst construction takes place. You will be expected to have your own transport and be able to make your own way to the station should it be required. The role involves early starts and late finishes.

Experience, knowledge and Qualifications Required:

Previous customer service experience in the transport industry would be desirable for candidates, especially that of a railway environment.

You will be required to undergo periodic competency assessment for train dispatch duties and also undergo periodic fitness assessments according to age.
