We have an exciting opportunity for an IT Business Applications Manager to join the Greater Anglia team on a permanent basis, based at One Stratford Place. This role will report into the Head of IT Service Delivery.

This role will be ideally suited to someone looking to progress their career who has come from the following roles: IT Business Analyst, Systems Analyst / programmer or developer.

Role and Accountability

The purpose of this role is the management and support of key business applications throughout their lifecycle, from the gathering of business requirements to managing the delivery of new applications to the business through to retirement. The ideal candidate should have experience of managing multiple applications.

The post holder will have ownership of the business systems and be the key custodian of all IT applications documentation ensuring they adhere to IT processes and procedures and provide specialised technical support and guidance on internal and externally provided IT Business Applications that support Greater Anglia daily operations. 

You will provide key KPI’s for period reporting as directed, report and manage any third-party issues as required, and manage the relationships between the business, IT and application suppliers, as well as support business departmental systems administrators to ensure that systems are managed effectively, and issues escalated appropriately.

The postholder will build strong working relationships with Business stakeholders and suppliers/vendors; attend / lead / manage service review meetings with application suppliers to review performance; resolve issues and understand any potential future developments and technology changes; and represent Greater Anglia on various Rail industry technical and systems forums and others directed by the Head Of IT Service Delivery.  

You will also be responsible for the management of IT Applications throughout their lifecycle, curation of the IT Applications Service Catalogue, provisioning testing and rollout of updates and new applications to the business in a controlled manner, and liaise with the IT change management process and problem management processes to ensure stable and non-disruptive delivery of services.

The postholder will stay abreast of market trends in cloud technologies / systems / applications to ensure that the latest technologies are considered for implementation within the business including mobile first approach and assist the business in preparing outline system requirements and appropriate business case definitions.

Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications Required

Candidates must have experience in a IT Business Application Management role, with experience of development of systems, systems architecture and business cases. You must have experience in delivery of applications, upgrades, devising roadmaps/strategies, developing systems interfaces / integrations as well as hands on experience of implementing. You will have strong technical and problem-solving skills and be commercially and business focused, with the ability to translate business requirements into IT processes. You will be able to be innovative and provide solutions that balance business priorities and IT requirements. At a minimum, you will be educated to GCSE / A level standard and possess IT qualifications.

Desirable

You will have experience in Business Case development, creating systems architecture documentation, creations of functional and non-functional specifications and software development processes and lifecycles.  Understanding of  scripting languages such  JSON, PowerShell, SQL or PL/SQL or ActiveMQ.   Familiar with SQL and Oracle databases, Web technologies and IT Governance and Security.

Experience of testing and rollout of new features, good interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure. Qualifications in ITIL Foundation, PRINCE2 Foundation and IT Governance and Security would be highly desirable.
