Environment and Energy Manager
An opportunity has arisen in the Safety, Security and Sustainability team for an Environment and Energy Manager.
The post holder will lead the continual development of our ISO accredited environmental and energy management systems across the Company, seeking to improve and enhance our environmental performance at all levels, as well as coordinating the company’s statutory energy and carbon reporting.
Role and Accountability
The post holder will establish and maintain the company environmental legislation register, and review and assess the impact of new and forthcoming environmental legislation on GA’s ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 certification/accreditation and entire EMS. You will undertake environmental assurance activities and reviews, and ensure processes and procedures are in place to enable the collation of data on utilities, traction energy and waste disposal (in conjunction with Finance, Asset Management, Engineering and Train Service Delivery). You will develop strategies to reduce water consumption, improve recycling and Energy usage. You will investigate and report on environmental incidents that did, or could have resulted in loss or environmental impact or damage, and support the wider management team at all levels across the business with advice regarding their responsibilities as defined in the EMS. You will produce technical reports for Senior leadership team and wider stakeholders.
Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications Required
You will have demonstrable experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 management systems, with the ability to read, analyse and interpret technical reports, financial reports and legal documents. You will hold an environmental management qualification, and a Degree in an appropriate discipline. You will hold and internal environmental management audit qualification (or be working towards one). You will be a member (or working towards) of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).
