Business Insight Analyst

We have an exciting opportunity for an IT Data Analyst to join the Greater Anglia Team on a permanent basis, based at One Stratford Place handling the development and management of the Business Information (BI) /Management Information (MI) service for Greater Anglia in conjunction with the wider business and business plan.

Role and Accountability

The postholder will be responsible for providing and enabling management reporting throughout the business by engaging with various groups of internal stakeholders to determine and clarify requirements and supporting ongoing reporting.

You will develop strategies for effective data analysis and reporting; supporting business decision-making utilising data and analytics; and selecting, configuring and implementing analytics solutions.

The postholder will champion the use of evidence-based decision-making for all aspects of customer services, marketing and revenue generation. The areas of focus primarily will be Devolved Accountability processes & reporting (Group Project), followed by Customer Experience, smartcard data & ticketing and analysing data from new trains once in service.

You will work closely with various stakeholders in customer services, marketing, business development and retail systems to utilise data to improve the effectiveness of commercial activities.

Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications Required

The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret large and varied data sources, deliver and support management reporting for IT led projects. You will be well versed in handling ‘big data’ and able to work to glean appropriate insights from across a range of data analysis tools, having experience of understanding customer experience would be an advantage.

You will be able to utilise and interrogate various sources (e.g. operations, IT, customer feedback) to develop a complete data-driven picture of the passenger’s door-to-door journey.

You will use technologies such as dashboards and analytics to help the business visualise and forecast information and solutions to assist; drive positive business changes as well as work with third party suppliers to enable and create various data connections into the data warehouse(s) and perform transform and load functions.

You will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of fully documented business processes, technical documentation and support procedures relating to the Business Insight service.

Essential

Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience producing meaningful and insightful analysis and presenting insight-driven recommendations to stakeholders of all levels. You will have experience with programming, design and integration of data warehouse and data distribution platforms; creating data environments for accessing and moving data with the use of SQL, APIs and server scheduling; and data modelling languages such as R, Python or SAS. R is predominantly used so would be preferred.

Having proven commercial experience of SQL for managing data and writing queries; being comfortable with using statistical techniques such as regression modelling, cluster analysis, time series modelling and hypothesis testing; and possessing proven experience of creating dashboards and visualisation, summarising complex business data into easily digestible dashboards and scorecards will be required.

Desirable

Experience in development/project management techniques, report writing on Microsoft Power BI, Qlikview, Tableau and communicating complex ideas in an understandable manner to a range of stakeholders with a good understanding of key concepts in a data warehouse; as well as having an eye for detail and the ability to take initiative to spot and suggest new opportunities will be highly desirable.
